Night Series

Olympic Kingsway marked their return to top flight football by becoming the first newly promoted team to lift the Night Series trophy. Olympic collected the pre-season title by out-shooting Inglewood United 4-2 on penalties after the two teams could not be separated at 1-1.

Inglewood’s dream of back-to-back Night Series wins were alive when Michael Domfeh edged them into an early lead, the attacker converting at the second opportunity past a luckless Malek Kuc. With half-time approaching Ciaran Byrne restored parity from the penalty spot following Rene Kisesa’s foul on Cian Hirrell.

Kuc brilliantly kept out Shubham Mokala’s low effort after the internal. And not long after Alex Dunn had his gloves stung by Tyler Garner. Domfeh did have the ball in the net for a second time only for it to be ruled out by a foul in the lead-up.

Penalty-spot conversions by Byrne, man-of-the-match Garner and Ollie Annis had Olympic in the box seat after four penalties each. And when substitute Oscar Barry stepped up to send Dunn the wrong way it was the Green Machine that kicked into celebration mode.
